July 4th, 2009

July 4th was a crazy day for us.  Jan was up early claiming our picnic area at the park.  I was running around getting stuff ready for Lucas’s birthday party.  All in all, we ended up having a very nice day and Lucas had a blast.  Later that evening, Tim, Lisa, Dennis, Wendy, Jan, Nathan and I went to Downtown Disney to watch the firework show.  Lucas went with Mum, Danny, Mutya and Mark to watch the Irvine firework show.  I was a bit sad that Lucas wasn’t with us, but that’s okay I’m sure Mum enjoyed his company … and plus he’s seen the Disneyland show already up close and from inside.  Here are some pics of us chillin and waiting outside of Disneyland:

Weekend Update #11 - Lucas’s Birthday Party

I was trying to get this post up by Sunday night, but got caught up in other things as usual.  This past weekend was July 4th weekend and all July 4th weekends will always be special for me.  Lucas, our first baby was born on July 3rd, 2005.  We had a big birthday bash for him on Saturday, July 4th…  he turned 4 this year.  Considering it was July 4th, we had a great turn out.  Our closest friends and family came to enjoy the day with Lucas and enjoy some yummy BBQ by Jan.  We had the party at Pioneer Road Park in Tustin.  It’s a pretty cool park.  It’s small, but has everything for the kiddos.  They had this water feature that’s a big hit with the parents and kids around the neighborhood.  Usually we can reserve the picnic area, but on holidays it’s first come first serve so I made Jan go really early to hold the spot.  Hhhaha…don’t ask what time he got there… I was just glad we got the spot.  It was a pretty hot day, so the covered picnic area was a life saver :)  Here are some pics…enjoy!!!

Weekend Update #10

I’m always late, but it’s better late than never.  We didn’t do much this weekend.  I really wanted to take the kiddos to Disneyland this past week since our passes will be blacked out for the summer.  So Jan and I ended up taking them on Friday.  We got to Disneyland around 6pm and it was packed!!!!  We got to watch “Fantasmic” and alittle bit of the firework show.  Lucas really enjoyed it and knew most of the characters now.  We’ve been trying to introduce him to more of the Disney movies so that when we go there he knows who’s who.  Here are some pics of the kids and Jan:

On Saturday, we had Dim Sum with our friends Lisa, Tim, Wendy and Dennis at Lincoln Plaza.  Tim’s family owns the hotel and they started to serve dim sum recently.  We really enjoyed it.  If you are in the area…definitely check it out.  The price is not bad either :)  Later, we went to Denny and Kara’s baby shower.  It was fun hanging out with everyone and their kids.  Thank goodness we didn’t work…it was scorching hot that day.

Sunday was nice and relaxing.  We went to Cerritos to went Grandma Nancy and had dim sum again.  We usually do this every two weeks.  It’s nice for the kiddos to see their other Grandma :).

Hope you all had a nice weekend!

Work in Progress - Top Quilt

img_0318Yikes!  It’s been a while since I talked about quilting.  I started making this top quilt about a month ago.  It’s done, but I haven’t found the motivation to bast, quilt and bind it.  I’ve been so preoccupied with other stuff, but now I really have to finish it soon.  I’m making this baby quilt for my friend Kamryn and she’s getting induced today.  She’s about 41 weeks and the baby will be here soon…yay!  We’ve been waiting for baby Tsui to come anyday.  Here are some pics of the top quilt.  Enjoy!!

Weekend Update #9 - Father’s Day

We had a wonderful weekend!!  Friday night was pretty fun for me..hahah!  Jan let me drink :).  Jan, the kids and I had dinner with our good friends Tim, Lisa, Dennis, Wendy, Mark and Kamryn (who is 9 months preggo).  We ate at Shin Sen Gumi Yakitori and ShabuShabu Restaurant in Monterey Park.  It was a perfect place for my loud kiddos and the food was delicious!!!  My favorite is the bacon wrapped aparagus :)  The kiddos had a blast with Aunty Lisa and Aunty Wendy.  It’s always weird dragging the kids out, but at least our friends love them.

Saturday was very uneventful.  We just hung out all day and ended up at South Coast Mall.  We didn’t have our stroller so we decided to rent one at the mall only to find out that South Coast rents for FREE.  That’s pretty awesome!!!  All you have to do is leave a deposit/cc and they don’t charge you once you return it.  Great service I tell ya!!!

This Sunday was a very special one for my hubby.  Happy Father Day Bub!!!  We love you very much!  Lucas made Jan this very cool cup.  See below for pics.  Jan is such a good daddy to the boys!  He’s smart, teaches the boys everything and loves to play with them.  Jan does a lot for the boys and I and we love him for that.  He just doesn’t do bottles or washes pots and pans, but I think I can live with that..hahaha!  We didn’t do much, but we did take the boys to the beach for a bit.  It was a beautiful day and everyone seems to be out enjoying the sun.  We wanted to head to Disneyland, but last second Lucas said he wanted to go to the beach..so we ended up in Corona del Mar.

Jan, Thanks for being such a wonderful Dad!!!   Happy Father’s Day to all the father’s out there :)

img_0740This is Lucas and Natey on Saturday.  Lucas is only 4 years old, but he’s better at the computer than me.

img_0794LOL!!!  It’s so funny what Lucas knows about Daddy.  *Note: I guess his preschool reuses the paper…cause it’s definitely not 2007..hahah!

img_0795Lucas’s card to Daddy…so cute!!!

img_0796Lucas’s gift to Daddy!  They made it at his preschool…so thoughtful!!!  It was better than my gift.  Every day they had a little something to give to their dad and the last day they made this big gift.  It was better than Mother’s day.  I got a cookbook..lol!!!  It was still cute, but not as cute!

Oh, check out the video of the two boy’s on Jan’s facebook.  So funny and cute!!  Lucas knows the lyrics to “I’m yours” from Jason Mraz.  That’s it!  Sorry for the long post.  Glad you made it this far tho :)

Blast from the past

Yes, I know i’ve been a bad blogger.  Maybe this will make up for it :).

LOL!!  I found this picture of Jan and I before we got married and had kids.  I think we were out with our friends in K town in L.A. 10 years ago.  Wow, I don’t think I can ever get back to my pre-baby weight!  It’s okay, I wouldn’t trade my kids for anything.

Enjoy!

Weekend Update #8

I had a great time this weekend.  It was short, but sweet.  Jan and I shot Gina and Peter’s wedding on Saturday in La Jolla.  Here’s a link to their engagement session.  It was a beautiful day and we had a great time hanging out with them and their guest.  They picked a pretty cool venue.  I’ll will show you more when the pictures are ready.

Sunday was a busy, but fun day.  Carolyn, Mimi, Cathy and I were hosting a bridal shower for Lily.  There are more girls in the bridal party, but we were the only ones who could make it.  I got there at 10:15am and helped set up the place.  Carolyn the real planner, coordinated everything.  It was a big hit and the decor was awesome!  Sorry, no pics til later.  I will probably have another post.  I just downloaded the pics last night and was too tired to look through them :(.  It was nice seeing all our friends come together and have fun.  The party started at 1pm - 4pm and I didn’t get home til 6pm.  I was pretty exhausted by the end of the day.

Jan watched the kiddos all day.  They ended up going to Johnathan’s 1st birthday party in Temecula with Mary.  Yes, I spelled Johnathan right..hahahh!  The kiddos had a great time…not sure about Jan.  Later that evening the Lakers played Game 5 and won the whole series.  Yay!  Hope you all had a great weekend too!  Thanks for reading my small post :)

Who loves the Lakers??

Well, it’s that time of the year!  The Lakers are in the FINALS and they are ahead 3 games to 1.  I’m not much for dressing up for the games, but my kids are..hahah!  Grandma & Danny went to the second game at Staples Center and bought the kiddos the cute gear.  So now, they wear it everytime there’s a game.. so cute if you love the Lakers :)  Check them out:

Weekend Update #7

I had a crazy, but fun weekend.  I call it crazy whenever it deals with the whole family.  It was quite the adventure when it comes to the kiddos.  Jan flew up to San Francisco on Wednesday for an engagement shoot.  Since we didn’t have a wedding this past weekend, I thought it would be nice to have a mini vacation with the whole family up north.  I drove up with the kiddos and Normi (our Nanny) on Thursday.  It wasn’t too bad.  We headed out around 1:30pm from Orange County and arrived in San Francisco at 10:30pm.  Of course, we had to make a few stops for the kiddos.  They were actually pretty good.  Natey was a bit fussy, but after he cried himself to sleep…we were all good.  We all stayed at my aunt Chloe’s place in the city.  She lives pretty close to everything so that was nice.

Friday, Rob (my uncle-in-law) took us to the newly remodeled Academy of Science.  It was an awesome place.  Click on the link to read more.  Lucas had a blast.  He knew a lot of the sea animals and different kinds of frogs.  I guess Go Go Diego teaches you a lot.  Later on, we stopped by the park and let Lucas play for a bit.  We were all pretty exhausted by 5pm.  We went back and rested til dinner time.  When my aunt Chloe got home from work, Lucas and Chloe made us oatmeal, cranberry and chocolate chip cookies.  They were delicious!!!  Later that evening, we had dinner at this place called Park Chow.  This place was packed and very kid friendly.  The food was awesome especially Jan’s pork chop dish.

Saturday was a chill day with for us.  We headed to the farmer’s market at Embarcadero.  It was fun trying all the yummy fruits, eating oysters and trying the smoke salmon sandwich.  Lucas was going crazy.  He loves trying out the fruit sample.  We bought a few things, but his most favorite were the plums.  He ate 3 plums while hanging out.  After the farmer’s market, we headed to union square.  It was crowded, but nice to check out since I’ve never been.  It was getting late so we headed home to rest a bit before dinner with Lily, Ian, Karen and Paul.  We met up with them at a restaurant called Le Cheval in Oakland.  It was a French Vietnamese place.  The food was good.  We had fun catching up with them and they got to see the kiddos.  Karen’s 7 months pregnant now.  Wow, how time flies..  I can’t believe she’s never seen Lucas and he’s almost 4.  Lily is getting married in August..so will be back up :).  It was nice seeing everyone since I don’t get to see or talk to them that often.

Sunday was bye bye time for SF..  We headed out by 10am and got home at 6:30pm.  It was nice having Jan there driving home with us.  We had a nice drive home…  made a few stops.  Got to rest a bit…  hope you’re ready for lots of pics.

Hope you all had a nice weekend too!!!
